Mr James O’Reilly

Consultant Eye Surgeon

James O’Reilly is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon, he is on the Register of Medical Specialists in the division of Ophthalmic Surgery, a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, a Diplomate of the European Board of Ophthalmology and a Member of both the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

Mr O’Reilly subspecialised in Corneal Transplantation and Anterior Segment Reconstruction at the world renowned Coreoplastic Unit in East Grinstead in the UK. This was the site of the first Eye Bank in the UK and remains one of the world’s leading Corneal and Anterior Segment Eye Surgery Units.

Mr O’Reilly specialises in Cataract Surgery, Corneal Surgery and Laser Eye Surgery. Since his appointment as a consultant in 2003 he has built a solid reputation based on surgical skill, good communication and personal patient care before, during and after the day of surgery.

 

Mr Tom Stumpf

Tom stumpfTom Stumpf graduated in Medicine with Honours and Distinction in Clinical Medicine from the University of Southampton in 1992. He was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (London) in 1997 and then completed his higher ophthalmic surgery training in Bristol in 2005.

His name is included on the Register of Medical Specialists in Ireland since 2006 and he has been a Consultant in Waterford and Kilkenny since 2007, where he has been building his reputation on high quality personalised care before, during and after surgery. before, during and after surgery. Tom has extensive experience in the fields of glaucoma, cataract and refractive surgery with 3 internationally recognised fellowships, in Bristol, Cardiff and Auckland, New Zealand.

He is a member of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. Tom was awarded a Doctorate Degree by the University of Bristol for his research on herpetic infections of the eye and has published widely in peer-reviewed journals and presented at numerous national and international scientific meetings. Tom lives in Waterford with his family.
